A recent decision by the D.C. Court of Appeals illustrates the limits of the
continuing tort doctrine’s ability to toll the statute of limitations, in
the course of reversing a $980,000 verdict against a law firm for tortious
interference with contractual rights.

The Court of Appeals of Maryland has held that, for purposes of tort
law, an impaired life is not worse than non-life, and, for that
reason, Maryland does not recognize a cause of action for "wrongful
life."
