"November 7, 2006, Washington, DC; Keith W. Watters, President of The BAR Association of the District of Columbia (BADC), today announced that Dwight D. Murray, Senior Partner at Jordan, Coyne & Savits, has been named its 2006 “Lawyer of the Year”. . . . The BADC’s “Lawyer of the Year” award was established in 1950 to honor a member of the legal profession who has distinguished him or herself in the practice of law in terms of intellectual excellence, uncompromising integrity and in advancing access to justice for those outside the legal profession. Dwight D. Murray was the enthusiastic unanimous choice for the honor. Mr. Murray has been a partner at the law firm of Jordan, Coyne & Savits, L.L.P. for 22 years. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a Fellow with the American Bar Foundation. A veteran of over 100 jury trials, his areas of expertise include products liability, premises liability, medical and legal malpractice, employment law, municipal liability and toxic torts. He is the first African American to be elected President of the BADC, has served on the BADC’s Board and currently is a Trustee of the BADC’s Foundation. For over 20 years he has been a Master in the William Bryant Inn of Court. Mr. Murray’s excellence, integrity and humility is strongly influenced by his experience as an Infantry Officer in the US Marine Corps, including a tour of duty in Vietnam 1969-70."
